Q: How do I set up and use Secure Cash in Xpos?
A: Secure Cash is a function that helps with cashing up by prompting cashiers to declare an opening float and the cash in the drawer at the end of the day. To set this up, you need to configure both the terminal and staff pins.
Terminal Setup
- From the Universal Search bar, type "terminal" and select the "Terminals" function.
- Click on your terminal, then "Edit Terminal."
- In the "Options" section, tick the boxes for Require pin and Use secure cash.
- In the "Lock Terminal" section, choose an option for when the terminal should lock (e.g., Never, Always, 1 minute, or 5 minutes). This determines when a PIN is required for a new sale.
- Click Save.
Staff Pin Setup
- To get a PIN, a staff member must be logged in to the terminal.
- After switching on "Require Pin," a prompt will appear to email a new PIN.
- The system will send a new, auto-generated PIN to the staff member's email address.
Daily Process with Secure Cash
- Start of Day: At the beginning of the day, you must select Open Terminal. Enter the opening float value and confirm it to make the till ready for use.
- Making a Sale: When you click "New Sale," you will be prompted to enter your staff PIN to log in before processing the transaction, depending on your "Lock Terminal" settings.
End of Day: When you are finished, click Close Terminal. You will be prompted to enter your staff PIN and then declare the final cash count. The system will then generate a report showing the counted value, expected value, and any difference.
